INTRODUCTION A recent turn of events saw the Delhi High Court frown at the Central Government for delaying the appointment of judges for a long time. Comments made by the court in this case suggest that there is increasing awareness regarding the effects of judicial vacancies on the judiciary’s operations in response to the increasing caseload. The criticism does throw a bit of light on understanding the conflict between the judiciary and executive branches after implementing the collegium system of appointments.
